Welfare assistance on Kalam's Memorial Day

Former President of the Republic Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on the occasion of the 6th Anniversary of the Kanchi Muthamil Center, in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, emphasizing the desire to do virtue, Kalam Ayya's dream will come true with 1000 community organizations and charities in 1000 places, 1000 various social welfare projects in their district areas , A world record attempt that would benefit tens of thousands of people, emphasizing the desire to do virtue at the same time on the same day. As part of this, Operating in the Ramanathapuram district, on behalf of the Kamankottai Nizhalgal Foundation, on 27.07.2021 On Tuesday, the former president Dr.A.P.J.Abdulkalam On the occasion of the Remembrance Day of His Excellency Dr.A.P.J.Abdulkalam, in Paramakudi, Bogalur and Manjur in Ramanathapuram District, 230 destitute persons were provided welfare assistance, food and clothes to the roadside dwellers. The event was attended by our team.

Honorary Doctorate to Nizhalgal's Founder

Our Nizhalgal Trust doing various social Services through the Nizhalgal Foundation operating in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamilnadu. The social activities like, Education, Awareness program, Medical Camp, Blood Camp, Eye Camp, Sapling planting, Disaster relief and helping the needy. Appreciating the social Services of the Nizhalgal Foundation, the Founder and CEO of the Nizhalgal Foundation, Mr. Rajkumar Bharathi was awarded an honoary doctorate by the Rudraksha Arts and Dance University. The honoary Doctorate Award Cernomy was held at the Simpson Hotel in Koyambed, Chennai. Rudraksha University of Arts and Dance conferred honorary doctorates on various achievers in various fields at this honorary doctorate ceremony. At this graduation ceremony, the founder of Rudraksha Arts and Dance University and the chennai high court advocates conferred the honorary doctorate.

A New World Record for Corono Awareness

A Nationalwide painting competition was organized by the Nizhalgal Foundation in Ramanathapuram, Tamilnadu, India, and associated with our Nizhalgal Foundation and the School of Fine Arts, Dessin Academy to thank Doctors, Nurses, Police Officers, Cleaners and Social Workers who served during the Corona period and to raise awareness about Corona. A total of 1670 participants from all over India participated in this online painting competition. The contestants who participated in this painting competition draw and sent paintings according to their title. The World Record attempt was created on 08th March 2021 in Ramanathapuram district with the paintings obtained. The World Record attempt was created in the name of Royal salute for our Real Heros as a way of thinking the frontline fighters. This world Record was registered in Kalam Book of World Records.

Covid-19 Kabasura Kudineer

Today the World facing one of the challenging issue is Global warming. Due to industrial revolution, house hold machines, deforestation due to increasing of world population, usage of plastic materials which pollute environment the world is also facing water pollution, air pollution and soil pollution.As a COVID-19 Precautionary measure, Nizhalgal Trust organized an event where kabasura kudineer and other immunity boosters were distributed to the public at the sathirakudi bus stop. Around 1500 people in Sathirakudi village, on 27 april 2020, were offered kabasura kudineer – adecoction suggested by ministry of AYUSH for the public, Volunteers and Field Staff, Which helps in controlling respiratory symptoms and strengthening immunity in their fight against COVID-19. Measures have also been taken to provide drinking water to the people around the district.

Covid-19 Relief Program

Nizhalgal undertakes disaster relief, humanitarian aid and community development in parts of 15 villages across Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram District. In its COVID-19 relief mission, it has reached out to over 460 families and individuals with ration kits supported 12 community kitchens and distributed more than 10,000 cooked meals thus far. Beneficiaries include migrant labourers, tea garden workers, rag pickers, transgenders, sex workers, elderly and remote tribal villagers.
It is also supporting old age homes, hospitals, settlements, etc with ration and personal care kits. Our team has been raising awareness on the importance of hygiene and supporting individuals and families by providing hygiene kits.

Palm Seed Sowing

Realizing the importance of Palm trees, Nizhalgal Trust wanted to organize a drive to plant one lakh palm seeds to serve its full benefits in areas like river banks, pond bunds, forest borders, streams to arrest the depletion on water table.
The drive, launched a month ago by Nizhalgal Trust, has been welcomed by environmentalists and the public. The idea is to reintroduce palm trees in the cultural space of Tamils.
Nizhalgal Trust has decided to plant one Lakh palm seeds across Tamil Nadu in a year. "We have just begun work, but the response is huge. Our Trust workers have planted more than one lakh palm seeds in southern and central Tamil Nadu so far.

General Medical Camp

The general medical camps are organized with the support of the Bogalur Primary Health center, Ramanathapuram District and healthcare professionals and utilizing the nursing and lab technician students on exposure to regular intervals in sensitive places. Other than the awareness generation on pandemic disease infections, cancer, HIV/AIDS, TB, disability and vaccination needs of children screening is conducted on the various life killing illness and medically assessed for medical follow-ups. The program was exclusively organized for the ST communities in remote rural areas ( Sathirakudi and Kakkanendhal and Mennanthi ) with the facilitation of Dr.Sulthan and presidential address of Panchayat President Mr.Pandian and reached population coverage of 576 beneficiaries. In the government “Varumun Kappom” scheme it covers a wide range of 1265 people. With the support and facilitation of the Public Health department of Ramanathapuram. Nizhalgal organizes Polio awareness camps in Muthuvayal, Bogalur and Kamankottai Blocks and Dr.Sulthan, PO inaugurated the campaign.

Environmental Development

Trees are the best alternatives for saving our earth from global warming. We can combat climate changes by planting trees. NIZHALGAL TRUST distributed 500 tree saplings and planted at Sathirakudi, Kumukkottai and Kamankottai village in Ramanathapuram - Dt. Mr. K. Sakthimurugan Trustee of Nizhalgal NGO was the resource person. He spoke on the urgent necessity to plant trees to save our planet. He educated women and men on the techniques of nursery raising for native trees.

Free Eye Camp Program

Nizhalgal Trust has organized Free Eye Camp in association with Ramanathapuram Government Head Quarters Hospital and District Blindness Control Society. More Than 500 old age peoples were participated in the preliminary screening test and 75 peoples were been diagnosed with eye defects and recommended for wearing spectacles which will be sponsored by Government Head Quarters Hospital. 6 Persons selected for the cataract Surgery and sent to Ramanathapuram Government Head Quarters Hospital by their Vehicle.

Free Employnment Training

A special program was conducted on Youth Empowerment Day involving our community volunteers. Recreational activities were conducted. Resource teams interacted with the volunteers on a array of topics ranging from life skill practices, pre-marital counseling, carrier guidance, managing emotions, being patriotic, engendering volunteerism, role and responsibility for lasting community development, techniques for improving self-confidence, self esteem, leadership management etc.

In the current sitution, it is difficult to find jobs in the public and private sectors. Students from the most deprived rural areas of the economy are deprived of adequate economies of scale and are unable to create any lasting benefits for themselves.

They are unable to provide adequate assistance to prepare for more competitive exams. Considering the rural development and the welfare of the educated unemployed youth in the most disadvantaged villages, free competitive classes were conducted with the best teachers in order to prepare them for the competition. More than 50 students are participating in this free class.

Sports Uniform Distribution

In a country like India, women have always been kept away from sports. As we know that development through sport has a huge potential, extending the football program to women would drastically improve our chances to tackle gender inequality issues effectively. Women football development is in practice in three of our centres. Kamankottai Government Higher Secondary School Students attending the district level Throw ball competition in Ramanathapuram District and they were won First price in the competition. Her Physical Teacher, Mr. Ashok, contacted the Nizhalgal Trust and asked them to Sponcer the sports uniforms to highlight our students in throw ball competition and promote their sporting skills. In order to promote the athletic performance of the students of the Government Higher Secondary School in Kamankottai on the basis of women's development, the Nizhalgal Trust provided them with sports equipment and sports uniforms to help them improve their sports skills and provide them with uniforms and sports equipment. Also, the students of Kamankottai Government Higher Secondary School won the district level competition and qualified for the regional level competition. They have also promised to win the Zonal level competition and qualify for the state-level competition.

Kaja Cyclone Relief in Delta

The Delta region of Tamil Nadu is experiencing a great calamity due to the Gaja cyclone. The affected districts are Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, and Ramanathapuram. More than 20000 people have lost their lives due to the terrible cyclone. Over 200 livestock were dead and their carcasses are in the vicinity. More than 3.7 lakh people have been evacuated and accommodated in government run relief camps. Many people are injured, but the timely evacuation had saved many lives. Many electrical transformers are damaged by the Cyclone which had cut the power supplies. The people are in urgent need of relief supplies especially dry food as there are families that have not eaten for days. We are also in urgent need of drinking water and medical supplies, to prevent any outbreak of epidemics. The general contribution of our NGO Nizhalgal Trust disaster management team are on the ground working in the affected districts, living with the people of the destroyed villages and helping them by cutting the fallen trees, clearing dead animal carcasses and debris, preventing the outbreak of epidemic by implementing sanitation measures and conducting medical camps.

Dengu Awareness Program

As part of efforts to prevent dengue, around 100 people were given Nilavembu Kasayam by volunteers of Nizhalgal Trust at Sathiakudi surrounding villages in Ramanathapuram. “Mainly, Nilaembu Kasayam builds immunity and increases the blood platelet count. This is, therefore, effective to fight dengue,” said Sakthi, one of the volunteers. While Nilavembu kudineer has become popular in its use to fight dengue, Vellarugu juice, which also has similar properties, is not being used as much.

We started our campaign and distribution of free extract of Andrographis paniculata ( ) across our village. We did a rigorous camps to clean up the village, create awareness using the mic by going into every street of the village and distributed the preventive medicine. Our campaign was started on Novembe 14th for this year (2018), well before even the Government machinery and Media helped public with awareness and camps respectively to prevent the spread of Dengue fever. we count the results and we are happy to see not even a single reported dengue from our village and happy to be part of the success. We thank all our volunteers and Donors.

Mega Blood Camp

A mega blood donation camp, aimed at creating awareness among society about the importance of donating blood, was today organised by Nizhalgal Trust Kamankottai and Bogalur Primary Health Center. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Thibakar, Sub Inspector of Police, Sathirakudi . Around 70 units of blood was collected during the campaign and collected Bloods were distributed to Head Quarter hospital of Ramanathapuram District. The camp was being organized to create awareness among the society on blood donation which was vital to save precious lives, which were being lost for want of blood. All the donors were thoroughly screened and their hemoglobin count was recorded before they were allowed to donate blood. Doctors say that a person can donate blood about four times a year. It was great to also see many ladies queued up to donate the blood. The trust expressed their gratitude to all the donors and promised to keep organizing many more activities for social cause.
